Bruce welcomes safe return of oil engineers

6.20.47pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 23rd Oct 2006

Reacting to the news of the release of the Aberdeenshire oil workers held hostage in Nigeria, local MP, Malcolm Bruce said:

"I am obviously delighted at the release and safe return of all the hostages, especially after the stressful difficulties they have since described they had to endure.

"You never know what the outcome will be when you deal with complicated situations such as this and I'm naturally delighted that the men have been released and able to return home to their families.

"I was in touch with the company from the outset of the news breaking and had been in touch with the Foreign Office who kept me informed. I have also spoken with the family who are in my constituency and am very pleased for them -and for all those families and communities affected- that this situation has now been resolved."
