Insch Meadows in West Garioch will be regenerated thanks to a Big Lottery Fund grant

Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce has welcomed the Big Lottery Fund's decision to award £8,075 to West Garioch Community Council to regenerate and improve Insch Meadows.

The grant was made as part of the Lottery Fund's "Breathing Places" programme, which encourages community groups to create spaces that encourage wildlife, nature and community involvement.

The Community Council will use community volunteers to create a picnic area, develop a wildflower meadow and establish a new pond.

Commenting, Mr Bruce said:

"I am delighted for West Garioch Community Council. To secure this award in the face of considerable competition is a tribute to their hard work and dedication."

"I am sure the Community Council will make the best possible use of this money, and I look forward to visiting the "Breathing Place" at Insch Meadows on its completion."
