Malcolm Bruce MP and Alison McInnes MSP meet with local Service men and women at the Inverurie War Memorial to commemorate National Veterans Day on Wednesday (27th June)

Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce this week met with local Service men and women from across Gordon who came to Inverurie War Memorial to commemorate National Veterans Day this Wednesday the 27th June.

Many of the Veterans were wearing their UK Armed Forces Veterans Lapel Badge, the entitlement to which has just been extended.

The Rt. Hon Malcolm Bruce explains - "The entitlement to this Veterans Badge was recently extended so that men and women who enlisted in HM Armed Forces between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1984 are now entitled to the reward.

My office ran a campaign to try and inform as many Gordon residents as possible of the new extended eligibility and I am delighted to see it has been so successful with many residents ringing in and asking for the application form".

Joining Malcolm Bruce at the event was recently elected North East MSP Alison McInnes who said - "It was an honour to be invited by Malcolm and the Veterans to attend their meeting to commemorate National Veterans Day. This day is a celebration of those who have through their years of service contributed so much for our country".

Malcolm Bruce added - "If anyone thinks they may be eligible for the Veterans Badge, I encourage them to get in contact with my office on 01467 623413 who will be able to further assist you."
