Local MP's website is only Scottish MP Finalist in computer awards12.37.56pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 26th Nov 2007 Malcolm Bruce the MP for Gordon has been named as a runner-up in this year's British Computer Society's (BCS) MP Website Awards.
The MP's website www.malcolmbruce.org.uk was a finalist in the accessibility category of the BCS MP Website Awards which intends to commend MPs who use their websites to effectively engage with their constituents and present the world of politics, in an informed and original manner. The websites were also appraised by AbilityNet, the national charity that helps disabled adults and children use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology, something that Mr. Bruce firmly supports. Mr. Bruce who is a Patron of the Inverurie-based Computers and Integration, a voluntary organisation, which aims to provide access to computers and software training for people in the North East, expressed his delight saying: "I am delighted to be a runner-up in this year's BCS MP Website Awards. My team and I work hard to try to keep the website fresh and we always appreciate any feedback. The website is an invaluable tool in relaying to constituents my work in Parliament on their behalf and also to help them engage with the political process in Westminster. "We are continually having new ideas about how to improve the website which include inserting information in British Sign Language, giving details of how constituents can visit Parliament and introducing short video updates on the latest events so watch this space!"
