Save our phone boxes says MP Bruce

Following reports that BT are to request a change in the rules over the provision of rules from Ofcom, Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce has written to the head of BT Scotland to seek assurances for phone boxes in the North East.

Red Telephone Box

Mr Bruce has written to BT Scotland asking for assurances that there will be continued access to phone boxes in the North East of Scotland.

Commenting on his letter Mr Bruce said:

"I have written to the Head of BT Scotland to ask for BT's current assessment of phone boxes in the North East and to learn how many planned removals are currently scheduled. I am also asking for assurances- particularly for those in rural areas- that they will continue to have access to a phone box where mobile phone reception is patchy and for those who choose not to have a landline.

"BT is a long-established, trusted company and people need to know that they will still be able to go to a phone box in their village or neighbourhood particularly in the event of an emergency."
