Mr Bruce has welcomed assurances by Aberdeen City Council to improve transport links into the city

Gordon MP, Malcolm Bruce, has welcomed the commitment by Aberdeen City Council to improve transport links to the north of the city.

Mr Bruce comments,

"My constituents in Bankhead, Dyce, Danestone and Bridge of Don as well as in shire communities north of the city are affected by transport delays on all routes into the city.

"I therefore welcome assurances I have received from the City Council that they are determined to press ahead with a third Don crossing and improvements to the Haudagain roundabout which are dependent on a new crossing.

"The city administration is proposing inclusion of a third crossing in all the relevant local plans and once that is achieved progress can move forward.

"I also welcome the fact that councillors are backing a commuter rail service from Inverurie to Aberdeen which will ease congestion by encouraging people form cars to public transport.

"Opponents of a third crossing have failed to understand that tens of thousands of houses have been built north of the Don with no corresponding improvement in transport links. I strongly support improved public transport links but by themselves they will not solve the congestion that has built up over the years."
